• Broccoli

Broccoli isn’t just a nutrient-rich dynamo.  This veggie’s distinct flavor is great as a stand-alone side or an ingredient in many dishes loved by young and old alike!

Care & Handling

Good quality broccoli should have fresh-looking, light green stalks of consistent thickness. The tops, or florets, should be compact and dark green with a slight purple tinge. Avoid broccoli with dried out or browning stem ends or yellowing florets.

Wrap unwashed broccoli in plastic wrap or place into a plastic bag and store in the vegetable drawer or crisper section of your refrigerator until ready to use. It will keep for a few days, but is best used right away.

For bunched broccoli, cut off woody stem ends about an inch from the bottom. Crowns may be used as is. Wash before using.

Nutrition & Health Benefits:

When you think of foods high in protein, broccoli may not be near the top of your list – but it should be! These “little green trees” are nutritionally well-rounded with high levels of fiber, potassium and Vitamins C & K, as well as protein – all of which help the body burn fat and provide an immune system boost!
